Goya Spain will be present at Alimentaria 2018, international Food Fair, which will take place from April 16 to 19 in Barcelona. In Alimentaria 2018, Goya will add to the presentation of its products, the presence in the “Olive Oil Bar”, a space for the self-guided tasting of its premium extra virgin olive oils: Goya® Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil (in the slightly fruity category) and Goya® Unico Extra Virgin Olive Oil (in the fairly fruity category).

The “Olive Oil Bar” of Alimentaria 2018, has established itself as a space with flavor and variety, highly appreciated by national and international buyers, representatives of specialized distribution, retail, gastronomy or the Horeca channel, among many other professionals of the food interested in the world of EVOO (Extra Virgin Olive Oil).

With varieties from the most known as the Picual, the Cornicabra or the Arbequina, to other less frequent ones like the Royal Changlot, Royal or Arróniz, the tasting space, located in the Mediterranean Foods zone, the “Olive Oil Bar” the good form of the national olive oil, with a growing offer in the Premium segment, which seeks to export more and connect with the best gastronomy.

The agrifood offer from Goya España will be available on Stand 366C of the Gran Vía Venue (Pavilion 2).

  • With 2,961 M€ in sales, the region exported twice as much olive oil in 2017 as Italy (1,507 M€).
  • By provinces, Seville leads olive oil exports, with 1,382 M€ and a year-on-year growth of 13.2 percent (18.2 percent of the total).

Andalusia led national sales of agri-food products and beverages abroad in 2017, reaching 10,937 M€. This figure represents an increase in exports of 9,2 percent compared to 2016 and almost one in four euros exported by Spain (23,4 percent), according to data from Extenda, the Andalusian Agency for Foreign Promotion.

Of these exports, sales of olive oil are placed first, with 2,961 M€ (27,1 percent of the total), thus achieving a new record (with a growth of 16.8 percent over 2016), and doubling the export of olive oil from Italy in the same period (1,507 M€).

By provinces, Seville continues to lead sales abroad of olive oil, with a turnover of 1,382 M€ (47 percent of the Andalusian total), and a growth of 13,2 percent over 2016; followed by Córdoba, Málaga and Jaén.

Markets

The first Andalusian olive oil market in the world is still Italy, with one third of sales (34 percent of the total) and a turnover of 1,003 M€ in 2017.

Italy is followed by the United States (392 M€), Portugal (329 M€), France (244 M€) and the United Kingdom ( 134 M€), among others. Also, according to Extenda, among the top 20 markets, there have been notable growths in exports to Canada as well as emerging destinations for oil such as Russia and India.

According to the Study “Marcas que Marcan 2017″, the six main attributes that Puerto Rican consumers look for in a brand and whose ranking in the last 11 years Goya consecutively leads, are:

  • Experience – 38% want it to be a brand with a track record and experience.
  • Economy – 36% want it to be an economic brand.
  • Value – 30% seeks to provide you with more value for your money.

  • Innovation – 28% want it to be an innovative brand.

If it’s GOYA®, it has to be good!

As confirmed by the news portal Channel1, Goya Foods has reached an agreement with the artist Alexander Mijares for the creation of a unique “Can Sculpture” Goya in the Pérez Art Museum, within the campaign “Passion is Goya” and the program of cultural activities “Second Saturday” of PAMM.

Located in Miami, PAMM is a museum of modern and contemporary art dedicated to collecting and exhibiting international art of the XX and XXI centuries. Like this space, Goya Foods is committed to bringing families together through cultural actions. In this way, together with PAMM they have created the “Second Free Saturday”, day of visit to the museum for families with free access.

Within the joint actions with the PAMM, on December 9 the “Can Sculpture” Goya created by the sculptor Alexander Mijares was inaugurated. Composed from recycled Goya cans, the sculpture is now available for sale.

Goya participates as a sponsor in the second edition of the “Philadelphia Unity Cup”, World Cup-style tournament that aims to unite the neighborhoods of the city of Philadelphia through football.

Promoted by Mayor Jim Kenney, the final of the second edition of the “Philadelphia Unity Cup” will take place on November 11st at Lincoln Financial Field (18.00 PM local time) with teams from Liberia and Sierra Leone. In 2016 Liberia was runner-up in the Cup, and in this edition, Sierra Leone was the first seed in the knockout round.

On the other hand, the teams that will compete for the 3rd and 4th place will be Puerto Rico and Jamaica.
