Olive Oil Times highlights the quality of Goya olive oils with the publication of a report on the activity, trajectory and product portfolio of Goya Spain.

Aplicamos sal marina (sea salt) en la preparación de aceitunas y alcaparras Goya

Natural flavor and quality are two hallmarks that define Goya products. For this reason, at Goya Spain, we apply sea salt to prepare our olives and capers, which guarantee their authentic flavor.

The extraction of sea salt is more natural and sustainable than the extraction of rock salt, as it requires a process of lower energy consumption and lower CO2 emissions. This salt contains an additional number of minerals and trace elements in its composition, such as magnesium, potassium, calcium, and iodine, which are practically not found in other salts and are necessary for health.

Similarly, another significant value is its sodium chloride concentration lower than other “chemically purer” salts.

With sea salt in our olives and capers, Goya confirms its original commitment to eliminate non-essential additives.

Along with our Organics Extra Virgin Olive Oil, we have launched our range of organic olives and capers. Thus, we have Manzanillas, Cocktail olives and Capote and Nonpareilles capers.

 

Organic olives and capers have CAAE certification (Comité Andaluz de Agricultura Ecológica-Andalusian Committee for Organic Agriculture, an organic certification entity). This seal guarantees that these are healthy products with a production process in which respect for the environment prevails.

 

Goya organic olives and capers come from organic farming, which follows a production system of maximum reliability subject to traceability from the field to the table.

 

All agents involved in the agri-food chain are subject to control and inspection of the raw materials used, the manufacturing process, packaging, labeling, etc., through accredited control and certification companies.

Goya has participated in the supplement “Saboreando Andalucía”, a new ABC’s newspaper EVOOs special edition, sponsored by the Department of Agriculture in the Regional Government of Andalusia.

Australian awards 2021-premios de australia

For yet another year, the quality of Goya olives and olive oils is once again recognized by The Australian International Olive Awards, obtaining a total of 4 medals.

In the 2021 edition, Goya Único Extra Virgin Olive Oil and stuffed olives with salmon were awarded gold medals and declared “best products of the Northern Hemisphere.”

Along with them, in the category of table olives-green olives (category 11), Manzanilla Goya olives have received a gold medal. Furthermore, tuna stuffed olives have obtained a silver medal.

Australian International Olive Awards are among the newest and most comprehensive olive oil and table olive competitions globally.

Did you know that the main olive constituents are water and oil? Due to the oil composition, the olive is considered a product of high nutritional and biological value.

Once harvested in the field, our olives reach our factory in Alcalá de Guadaira (Seville). It´s time for olives classification.

They are selected and classified according to their variety, size, the health of the fruit, etc.

In olives classification, the impurities (soil, branches) are then removed employing air and water flows.

From that moment on, Goya olives are subjected to different treatments in their preparation. We apply traditional recipes that allow us to offer a wide range of varieties with an unparalleled flavor.

World Olive Day 2021- Día Mundial del Olivo

Since UNESCO approved it in 2019, every November 26, we celebrate “World Olive Day”.

On this day, we recognize the value of the most widespread tree plant in the world and the symbols that the olive branch embodies: from the character of victory in ancient Greece to the symbol of peace and hope in the Catholic religion. In Greek mythology, the history of Athens’s founding was associated with the olive tree’s fruit as a symbol of longevity, wisdom, and fertility.

Presently, the olive tree needs to be protected. Its cultivation not only prevents soil erosion but also reduces desertification and slows, in a certain way, CO2 emissions into the atmosphere, slowing down the effects of climate change.

Sound evidence of the international accolades is the Brazil IOOC 2021 edition– an international competition for extra virgin olive oils- where Goya Organics (2nd) and Goya Robusto (9th) oils are among the Top 10 best extra virgin olive oils in the world. Thus, they have received the “Triple Gold” mention for obtaining a gold medal three years in a row.

Goya Organics also won the “Top North Award 2021.” Along with the Organics and Robusto gold medals, Goya’s numerous victories at Brazil IOOC 2021 are completed with a gold medal for Único.

TerraOlivo IOOC 2021
Goya Spain adds new awards to the quality of its premium extra virgin olive oils. Terraolivo IOOC, held in Jerusalem (Israel), has awarded two “Grand Prestige Gold” medal to Goya Unico and Organics extra virgin olive oils.

The Terraolivo IOOC 2021 edition had 611 samples of extra virgin olive oil from 21 countries  including Israel, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Greece, Turkey, Argentina, United States, and many more.

The EVOO’s were tasted and evaluated by 39 certified olive oil tasters from various countries.
